Exhibition – Travel to Georgia
Exhibition “Travel to Georgia,” is designed to immerse the University of Toronto community in the rich cultural heritage of Georgia. This event aims to enhance student awareness and appreciation of history, art, and literature, while also amplifying the presence of Georgian students on campus.
The “Travel to Georgia” exhibition will feature a diverse array of:
- Artworks featuring important periods of Georgian history
- Frescos and Ancient Wall Patterns
- Literary Works
- Digital photos featuring Georgia
There will be a chess playing setup for those who want to play it!

Movie Screening – Tangerines
The Georgian Students Association and the Young Ambassador of Georgia to Canada, as part of their mandate, are hosting a movie night in commemoration of the September 27th Fall of Sokhumi.
The event will feature a screening of Tangerines, a powerful film set during the 1992–1993 war in Abkhazia. Tangerines tells the story of an Estonian man living in Georgia who shelters two wounded soldiers from opposing sides. The film explores themes of humanity, conflict, and reconciliation amidst the horrors of war. Spaces are limited !
Georgian Days in Canada!
Join us on Sunday, September 15th, at 2:00 p.m. in our Georgian Orthodox Church, celebrating Georgian Days Festival in Canada.
The celebration will take place at 21 Church St, Innisfil. Where we will be making Churchkhela, boiling Khinkali, and much more. It will be a fun experience for people of all ages. Enlightening themselves with an immersive Georgian food experience.
Admission donation of $50 accepted as contribution for the event.
Festival is organized by Georgian culture centre.
International Club Fair
We are excited to invite you to participate in our upcoming International Fair « Around the World in 80 days », which will be held on Tuesday, August 27th, from 2-6 pm.
The international fair aims to celebrate and showcase the diverse cultural backgrounds of our incoming orientees, foster a sense of community and inclusivity among students. With this fair, we will be able to bring to you all of interactive ways to learn about Georgia and our association. Through music, food , different activities and performances, you’ll feel the true brightness of Georgia!

Dialogues in Theology 2024
We are excited to announce the “Dialogues in Theology 2024: A Deep Dive into Theological Concepts” in Canada, organized by the Georgian Orthodox Church and the Georgian Students Association at the University of Toronto.
A similar event, organized by the Georgian Orthodox Church with the same esteemed guest speakers, takes place annually in the United States, and due to high demand from the Georgian diaspora, we are bringing this event to Canada for the first time.

Georgian Dancing Workshop
Calling all dance enthusiasts!

PII: Georgian Singing Workshop
Georgian Polyphonic Singing” will be in-person students will be taught one Georgian song. Workshop will be lead by Shalva Makharashvili.
Shalva Makharashvili is a Professional musician who has been performing the music of his homeland for over 30 years. Since his immigration to Toronto he has received a number of awards and featured on CBC radio. He is now member of Ori Shalva aka Makharashvili Family.

PI: Fundamentals of Georgian Polyphony
“Fundamentals of Georgian Polyphony” will be held on Zoom explaining the fundamentals of Georgian polyphony. Workshop will be led by our guest speaker Givi Abesadze. Givi is Georgian Professional singer, who is a member of Didgori ensemble.
About Didgori: The award winning Didgori ensemble has been performing internationally since 2004 and has toured France, UK, Switzerland, Israel, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Canada. Declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2001, the millennial old Georgian polyphonic singing tradition, with its close harmonies and untempered scales, is often described as transformatively visceral.

Udzinarta Mze (The Sun of the Sleepless) is a 1992 Georgian drama film directed by Temur Babluani. It was entered into the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Silver Bear for outstanding artistic contribution.

Whether you’re a language enthusiast, or just interested in learning more about this intriguing language, our beginner-friendly program by Georgian Students Association offers the ideal starting point for deciphering the mysteries of Georgian communication. These sessions will provide a thorough introduction to Georgian grammar, phonetics, and vocabulary.
